Subhankar's journey with Teach For India began in the heart of Govandi, a vibrant but challenging community in Mumbai. Faced with disengaged students who struggled to find meaning in school, Subhankar sought a solution. He noticed one thing that sparked their interest—sports.
Seeing an opportunity, Subhankar introduced a simple but powerful incentive: if students focused on their studies, they could enjoy sports. The results were remarkable. Attendance improved, classroom behavior shifted, and academic performance began to rise. But Subhankar wanted more for his students. He realized that sports had the potential to teach life skills beyond the classroom—teamwork, leadership, resilience.
This led to the creation of The Right Pitch, a program that combined the love of sports with the power of education. What started as a classroom strategy soon evolved into a platform where students not only played but grew into confident, capable leaders. Today, The Right Pitch continues to inspire and empower, carrying forward the spirit of transformation that began in a single Teach For India classroom.
